Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will I know if you’re the right therapist for me?
Let’s try it out! It’s definitely not a one size fits all. Let’s try it and see if therapy is meeting your expectations and your needs. Most important be open and have open communication about any concerns you may have. Having an honest conversation with your therapist may result in a more conducive working relationship.

Q: What can I expect from each session?
Each session is tailored to the needs of the kiddo. As a caregiver you need to be available for the duration of the session. However, your involvement in the session depends on the need your loved one has for support. It is expected for you to be present to report on the progress and determine a home plan for the following week.

Q: How long are the appointments?
30-45 minutes, depending on the need of the individual. This will be determined in the initial evaluation.

Q: How often will we meet?
Typically 1-2 times a week, depending on the needs of the client. This will be determined in the initial evaluation.

Q: Do you accept insurance?
YES!! Currently in network with United Health Care and Blue Cross Blue Shield. I am open to starting the process with other insurance companies as I’m still a small growing business. If your insurance is not currently listed, give me a call and lets discuss options. I also have private pay options.

Q: What is the cancellation policy?
Currently I strongly encourage at least 24 hours notice if you need to chancel or reschedule. Let’s be respectful of each others time. Updates to this policy will be made as necessary.

Q: Do you make referrals for other providers?
If I feel a referral to another provider needs to be made I will let you know. However, I am not liable for any financial claims or charges that may result from the referral. It is the responsibility of the client to make necessary appointments, check with insurance for coverage, and pay any resulting charges.

Q: How long with therapy take?

This is what everyone wants to know. This is completely dependent on the needs and progress of the client. It could be short term, it could be more long term, or it also could stop and go as the demands of communication change for the client.

Q: What can I do at home to make progress towards goals?
Each session we will discuss a home plan. This will include specific speech targets, caregiver coaching for how to support the client, and ideas on activities or routines to be able to address the targets in a way that works with your personal schedule. Evidence based strategies are used and taught every session to support you and fit in your lifestyle.
